A Sanctuary

“There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more”
― George Gordon Byron

Sculling

I’m surrounded by nature and I would not have it any other way.

I crave open spaces, oceans, rivers, trees and flowers. The first blossom in the Spring makes my heart leap with joy as I pull off our layers, lace up my sneakers and venture out on foot.

Forbidden Drive

My neighborhood parks are my sanctuaries. My mind contemplates as my feet pound the paths and the trails through the hills. My angst eases as I watch the sculls pass by on the river. I relax into the feeling of community as the kids pass by on bikes and fellow joggers and walkers say good morning. I smile as the dogs pull on their leashes in chase of squirrels. And my soul sings when my baby girl squeals with delight as she sees the geese.

This is my journey to peace.
