‘Social innovation makes magic happen.”
― Richie Norton
The beer garden is a social concept which I think is a brilliant solution for vacant and unused spaces across the cities. What can be better than inviting outdoor spaces in otherwise eyesore locations, filled with laughter, fun and activities. There are several beer gardens around Philadelphia and all have been doing extremely well showing the city there is a need for more well kept outdoor spaces. In fact, one garden, Spruce Street Harbor Park, was named one of the World’s Best Urban Beach by Jetsetter.
Its saddening that most of the gardens will be closing up shop after this weekend at the unofficial end of summer. I thought I would share a few pictures of 2 of the beer gardens, The Independence Beer Garden by the Liberty Bell and the Spruce Street Harbor Park. I am sad to see Summer end.
