Autumn in the Wissahickon Trails

“It looked like the world was covered in a cobbler crust of brown sugar and cinnamon.”
― Sarah Addison Allen

I had not been hiking in years. Pre-Ari, I would walk or “run” through the trails at Wissahickon Valley Park in Philadelphia which has about 50 miles of rugged trails in addition to Forbidden Drive, a gravel road which is closed to vehicular traffic (hence the name Forbidden) and runs parallel to the Wissahickon Creek. An oasis in the middle of the City.

I had the opportunity last Sunday hike those trails with an awesome group and felt like a bit of my old self. And doing it in the midst of autumn, made my heart smile.

Lesson learnt: Make time for the things that bring you joy.
