Reading Underground

Yesterday I explored a part of the now defunct Reading Railway line in center city. We ventured underground at the point where the Reading trains went underground into the city to Reading Terminal (now the Convention Center). The railway line is now a part of an undertaking to create beautiful outdoor space similar to the High Line in NYC called the Rail Park. The first phase is expected to open in early 2018.

The underground section is not open to the public and we received a warning from the police while we were exiting the railway in front of the police station. Inside was dark with pockets of light coming in from the road above. For years I have wanted to venture down there and I was happy I was finally able to.
